Stora barriärrevet i Australien hyser fler djur- och växtarter än något annat ekosystem. Det är en närmast magisk plats för dykare och naturälskare världen över.
Men just nu är revet i fara. Det multinationellt gruvföretaget Adani vill transportera tusentals ton kol rakt igenom revets vatten.
Företaget vill expandera kolhamnen i området, som även klassats som världsarv av UNESCO. En större hamn innebär fler fartyg lastade med kol genom det känsliga revet. Risken för olyckor och oljeläckor är mycket hög!
UNESCOs världsarvskommitté som har hållit ett öga på revet säger att det är i dåligt skick. Snart träffas de för att diskutera Stora barriärrevets status som världsarv. Australiens regering säger att revet mår bra, men det är inte sant. UNESCO kan stoppa de här destruktiva planerna och se till att revet överlever.

Great Barrier Reef in Australia, home to more plant and animal species than any other ecosystem. There is an almost magical place for divers and nature lovers the world over.
But right now, the reef is in danger. The multinational mining company Adani want to transport thousands of tons of carbon right through the reef’s waters.
The company wants to expand kolhamnen in the area, which is also classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. A major port means more ships loaded with coal by the delicate reef. The risk of accidents and oil leaks are very high!
UNESCO World Heritage Committee has kept an eye on the reef say it is in poor condition. Soon they meet to discuss the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage status. The Australian Government says that the reef feel good, but it’s not true. UNESCO can stop these destructive plans and ensure that the reef survives.
